What’s included?
Pricing options
You can buy the training course alone, or bundle in the exam so we book it for you.
Why are there different exam prices? APMG charges less if you are a member of APMP (it’s $170 to become a member here).
All prices exclude VAT (because companies are generally the ones paying), but you can see the inclusive price in the explanation under each option.
- You will need an APMP ID if you buy the bundled exam options (even non-members) – see instructions here
- You will get a VAT receipt if you need it to claim back on expenses
- We take credit cards, PayPal, bank payments (some countries), and buttons (not really).
If you need an invoice to get approvals and then pay later by bank, let us know the details and we’ll be in touch.

FAQs
No, but you do need an APMP ID – if you’re not sure how to get on, then go here.
Members get cheaper exams.
Non-members still need an ID from APMP to access the exam (no, I don’t really know why).
The exam tests your knowledge of proposal and bid management best practices in 40 entry-level and early career competencies. The exam is:
- 75 questions
- Multiple choice
- Pass-fail
- Open-book
The exam is timed, and the candidate has up to 65 minutes to answer all questions.
Candidates may choose to take the APMP Foundation Certification (v4) exam in English, Spanish, and German, or the Foundation Certification (v3) in Japanese.
Our training is for the v4 certification.
You won’t fail!
But in theory you can:
- Retake the examination again once you are ready (exam fee due again)
- Appeal your result with APMG International. Refer to this page for details: Complaints, Concerns and Appeals
Candidates should have at least one year of experience in a bid and proposals environment; this experience does not have to be continuous. Time spent working in sales support and/or marketing also applies.
Your experience may be verified with a reference you choose. This is done on a random sample basis. You may not be asked for a reference, and/or the reference may not be checked.
Candidates do not have to be a member of APMP to take the exam, but the cost for non-member candidates is more than the cost of membership.
The exam tests your understanding of the APMP Body of Knowledge – which members can access here (and that includes in the exam itself, so it’s worth being a member).
There is a pdf Study Guide for sale from APMP. It’s the same material as the BoK. And in the training.
